Here is what Tracey said:
After the initial confusion of which dashboard I should be working through for my Dual Dips and getting my head around the process required, I found access to be easy.
Staff supportive and feedback useful. Assistance with extension was seamless.
A couple of not so positive points were that not realising the extent of support and input needed from my colleagues was much more than expected (thinking it would be along similar lines as previous TAFE courses completed).
My other point would be that although this is an online course, I would have preferred the option to be able to print the course notebooks as well as view them on screens.
Why did this particular testimonial catch our attention?
Tracey made 4 points in her testimonial that we would like to expand on:
#1. Take the time to become familiar with the Learner Portal
When embarking on something new, it can be tough – there is always a period of adjustment.
We encourage all our new students to take some time to become familiar with our online learning portal.
New technology can be confronting, confusing and often cause frustration when you can’t quite figure it out. That’s why it’s best to just dive straight in – click on some buttons, watch the tutorials on how to use it and read as much as you can. It’s easy once you get the hang of it.
#2. We offer flexibility
Never hesitate to give us a call if you are worried about not finishing your course in time. We get it – life happens, and when it does, there are options for you.
Should you need it, we offer course deferments and paid extensions. Give us a call and we can have a chat about what your next step should be.
#3. We are here to support you over inevitable hurdles
The VET landscape has changed and is now more rigorous than ever. As Tracey mentioned, some assessment does require the involvement of your colleagues, bosses and students.
For every unit that you choose to study, you will need access to a place of work where you’re able to both practise the skills associated with that topic and also have someone who is suitably qualified or experienced observe you do those things.
A simple example would be if you are doing the unit “Manage Meetings”. As its name suggests, you’ll need to be in a place where you are able to manage meetings. You will need to put together an agenda, prepare for and run a meeting, and do any follow up that you need to do afterwards. And, you need to have someone else observing you do all that stuff.
That’s why we are here. We will help you make it over the inevitable hurdles that appear during your course – we are only a phone call or email away.
#4. Let us know how we can improve your experience
Here at Fortress Learning, we will try our very best to meet your expectations and needs. We always value your feedback and will consider implementing a change based on your comments.
